Washington Head Coach Accepts Blame for Keeping Daniels in Game Before Significant Harm

Washington Commanders leader Dan Quinn has admitted he bears some the blame for a serious injury to the squad’s quarterback, Daniels.

Particulars of the Harm and Context

Daniels, who had among the best rookie campaigns of all time last season, suffered a dislocated left elbow in Sunday’s defeat to the Seattle Seahawks. Even though the quarterback passes with his dominant arm, the injury has left his season uncertain. The injury was significant enough that the television broadcast did not show replays and multiple athletes turned away as he was attended to by medical staff.

Criticism and Coach’s Reaction

Coach Quinn faced scrutiny as numerous believed Daniels ought not to have been on the playing surface to begin with. The incident happened in the fourth quarter with the Washington trailing 38-7, making a recovery improbable. It is common in these circumstances for clubs to insert their reserve QB to avoid injuries to their starter.

“I understand. I’ve been reflecting about it constantly, too, and, wow, I missed it,” he said of his choice to keep Daniels in the match. “That is 100% my fault.”

Aftermath and Squad Prospects

Mariota will be the Commanders’ primary QB going forward, but he will guide a roster in turmoil. Following reaching the NFC championship game the prior year thanks to Daniels’s excellence, the team have faced difficulties this season. They also saw injuries to defensive back Marshon Lattimore (ACL tear) and wide receiver Luke McCaffrey (broken collarbone) on game day, and have a number of other starters on the injury list. The Washington squad are 3-6 so far, and it would require a huge turnaround for the club to make the playoffs.
